County Birding Pages on the Website
As part of the Delaware Valley Birding section of www.dvoc.org, there are
individual pages for each of the counties in our area. These pages can be
accessed from various locations on the website (i.e. the main Birding the
Delaware Valley page, a county birding page, the weekly RBA, etc). Over the
past month all of the pages have been redesigned taking advantage of Google
maps. Each county's page contains an interactive map that allows a user to
zoom in and out, get driving directions, get satellite views and many other
features. On these maps we hope to mark all the birding locations in our
area.
Click on this link to access the county pages.

Here is how you can help! If you have any locations to add, information to
add or anything at all to add to one of these pages, please email the
webmaster at <mailto:webmaster at dvoc.org> webmaster at dvoc.org. If we all work
together we can make these pages a tremendous resource!

Upcoming Field Trip
August 9 (Saturday) - Shorebirds at Green Lane Reservoir, Montgomery County,
PA
Join Steve Kacir on his Montgomery County Big Year for shorebirds at Green
Lane Reservoir. This is one of the best locations in eastern PA for
shorebirds. This will
probably be a half day trip. However, if any participants want to continue
to bird Montgomery County through the day with me, they will be welcome.
Meeting Time: 7:00am Meeting Place: Church Rd Parking Lot at Green Lane
Reservoir
Directions: From the Northeast Extension of I-476, take Exit 44 for PA 663
towards Quakertown/Pottstown. Take PA 663 South towards Pottstown. PA 663
starts as John Fries Hwy and becomes Pottstown Ave. Turn right onto
Schoolhouse Rd. Turn left onto Church Rd. Follow Church Rd for less than a
mile. Immediately before the intersection of Church Rd and Hock Rd, turn
left into the
parking area that borders Green Lane Reservoir. If you get to Kutztown Rd,
you have gone too far.
Leader: Steve Kacir
Summer 2008 Philadelphia Larus (Jason Loghry - Editor)
The new edition of our newsletter has been posted on the website. You can
either read it on-line or print it out for reading.
This is the primary method of distribution of Philadelphia Larus.
Congratulations to Jason Loghry on his initial effort. He was assisted by
past editor Naomi Murphy.
Happy Anniversary to the Delaware Valley RBA
The Delaware Valley RBA is now one year old. It is no longer "new", and has
become a well established resource for birders. Kudos to Chairperson Steve
Kacir and his committee.
The RBA is released on Thursdays. There are three methods of distribution. A
voice recording is available at 215-240-7547. It is posted to the
Pennsylvania, the New Jersey and the Delaware list serves. And it is posted
(with enhancements) on the club's website. Reports of sightings are always
sought. Either e-mail RBA at dvoc.org or call 215-240-7547 and leave a message.
